Picking Wedding Dress
While you pick your wedding dress, you need to be particular about its color, length, size, silhouette, train and mood, you could never go wrong with it if you all of these going right for you. Color
Although ideally a wedding dress is white, as it symbolizes purity, color can be chosen depending on your skin tone, or if you wish to do something just a little different than wearing white, you could try out a pale pink, beige, ivory. If you are a fair skinned blonde, nothing works wonders than a lovely pure white gown.
Length of the Gown
The length of the gown can be decided depending on the type of wedding you are having, long gowns are ideal for formal wedding while short knee length gowns are suitable for a not so formal and not so elaborate small wedding. If you wish to go for a knee-length gown, ensure that it drapes a minimum one inch below the kneecap top. Keep the veil shirt for knee length gown and the veil long a longer ankle length gown.
Size
Wearing the right size wedding dress is essential if you want to get the look right, you can’t be wearing sizes that don fit you. Order a gown that fits your bust, waist, hips and height perfectly.
Silhouette
Silhouette is the shape of the gown and it’s fitting to your body. There are various silhouettes to choose from
- The Ball Gown (Cinderella look) - the bodice is fixed through the waist with the full length of the skirt.
- Princess - these gowns are the most figure genial, the side seams go vertically down from the underarm to the hem.
- Sheaths - these are fitting and slim and are extremely figure enhancing and sexy. If you wish to go for sheaths, make sure you get the measurements right.
- Empire Silhouette - this has a high waistline that comes from the bust, going down into a slim slender skirt.
- Mermaid Silhouette - this is like the sheath just that the skirt comes out as a flare below the knee, giving a mermaid like appearance.
Train
Although keeping the train small is manageable, some women would like to have long trains for a grand walk down the aisle, in such cases, having a detachable train is comfortable as any tripping and soiling can be avoided.
Mood
Depending on the mood you want to set and convey, you could accordingly design your wedding gown.
- Classic & Traditional - if you wish to stay with the tradition, classic is the one for you, these have loads of satin, lace and beading with full flowing gowns.
- Modern - these are usually made of rich crepes, ideal for a formal wedding.
- Romantic - either a strapless or a long sleeved with a heart shaped neckline.
